About the Recital
On the 22cd of July, my guru had hosted a recital in the Triveni Auditorium, New Delhi. During this performance, each batch of students performed 1-2 compositions, ranging in difficulty and intent.
In particular, my group performed two pieces: Tiliana and Kirtanam. Tilanas are fast-paced compositions; they are typically performed at the end of a performance. Kirtanams, on the other hand, are compositions performed with parts of abhinaya (dance that deals with emotions and sentiment) and difficult sets of korvais (pure dance sequences).
Personally, I enjoyed the recital, and the experience which it gave me. A Bharatnatyam dance recital is an incredibly elaborate event, with the complex costumes, elaborate makeup and the practice for the actual pieces. Performance is a key part of any art, and gaining experience with this was a valuable learning. I also enjoyed showcasing my skills, and taking inspiration from the other dancers.
Bharatnatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in Tamil Nadu. The dance is known for its fixed postures, such as 'aramaindi' and variety of hand gestures, known as 'mudras.'
About the Program
Young Technology Scholars (YTS) is a two-week intensive summer program where students are exposed to real-world engineering and problem-solving. Through hands-on learning and interdisciplinary coursework, students will learn how to leverage technology to solve complex problems.
My Experience
In the beginning part of the week, we were introduced to numerous skills and knowledge through lectures, and hands-on sessions. The fields ranged from the sciences to technology and engineering. Towards the later part, we were offered a range of projects, and choosing one, we used the skills that were taught to us to recreate it.
In my case, I participated in the EMG project, a device used to sense muscular activity from the nerves. My team used the EMG devices, and a microcontroller to sense muscle imbalances from two related muscle groups.
The Young Technology Scholars was incredibly insightful program that allowed me to gain experience in various fields, and explore any possible interests that I harboured. Through the program, I was able to get a clearer idea of my passions, and what subjects and areas I could myself interested in. Through the project, I was able to pick up key skills that are necessary in current times, and was able to interact and learn from multiple renowned professors.
YTS is a program hosted by the Plaksha University in Chandigarh, India. It is a hands-on two-week summer program aimed for young scholars and problem-solvers. The coursework includes programming, microcontrollers, electronics and exposure to various skills and fields.
